The Inner Hebrides -Isle of Mull
The Isle of Mull lies off the west coast of Scotland in the council area of Argyll and Bute, separated from the mainland by a narrow stretch of water known as the Sound of Mull.
It is amongst the largest Hebridean islands, measuring some 50 miles north to south, with an area of 875.35 square kilometres, and an island of great variety.
With its one-thousand-foot-high sea cliffs, a vast mountain range, whose highest mountain, Ben More, towers over three thousand feet, white sandy beaches, a clear blue sea and pic-turesque towns, are just some of Mull’s delights.
Mull’s capital and biggest town is Tobermory. With its colourfully painted buildings, many lively pubs, eateries, shops and boat trips, it is regarded by many as the prettiest town in the Hebredes. It has a population of about ten thousand, about a third of the is-land’s total population. Mull is also home to the extremely rare White-Tailed Sea Eagle and the Bald Eagle, while dolphins, whales and basking sharks are regularly spotted in the waters around the island.
Mull is the fourth largest Scottish island and the fourth largest island surrounding Great Britain.
The beauty of Mull is you can explore miles of stunning coastline with amazing wildlife.

Driving on Mull…
Always, let vehicles behind you pass by pulling into a passing place. They will toot their horns in appreciation if you do, and wave nicely. Also remember, that the doctors on Mull, also ‘first medical responders, don’t have flashing blue lights, so one of those behind you may well be on their way to a ‘call out’.
